Introduction
Bing Places for Business is a complimentary service that makes it easy for you to create a profile for your business. That’s right, it’s FREE! As a business owner, it allows you to get found locally, on Bing Search as well as get found on Maps.
With Bing Places, you can share information about your company and what it offers with customers looking to find local businesses. Bing Places allows you to:
Verified listings give you a more prominent place on Bing, which increases your click-through rate. This means that people who are searching for keywords relevant to your business will see it in the local pack and be more likely to click on it. The credibility of your business increases.
This can lead directly to new customers for your business. If someone sees that their search results include a verified listing from a brick-and-mortar store nearby, they’re more likely to visit that store in person than if they had seen an unverified listing or no listing at all!
To upload a photo: Click the “Upload Photo” button in the top right corner of the page. Select an image from your computer or device to upload it directly into Bing Places for Business. You can choose up to 10 images per business listing; each picture must be under 2MB in size (or 1MB if landscape).
To edit information about your business location: Click Edit Location Details at the bottom of any page within Bing Places for Business (you will need to verify first).
You’ll see a map with pins representing all businesses listed under this category in this area; click on one of these pins to view its details page where you can make changes such as adding/deleting phone numbers or changing hours of operation.
You can reach more customers by running deals and discounts on products or services. Offering a promotion like a “free” product or service or a “discount” is a huge incentive for customers to click on the deal.
You can set the % or dollar amount of the discount of the product or service. This allows customers to see their savings if they purchase it from you. You can set conditions like “new customers only” and “when 2 are purchased.”
A handy calendar can be used to set the time frame of the promotion. You can even add a “coupon code” for customers to use.
To verify your business listing, you need to connect it with a Microsoft account or create one if you don’t have one yet. You can use the same account you use for other Microsoft services like Outlook, or OneDrive.
If you don’t have such an account, visit http://signup.live.com and follow the instructions there to create one.
To get started, head to this page and click “Sign Up for Bing Places for Business.” You’ll be asked if you want to create a new Microsoft account or use an existing one.
If you have one already, go ahead and log into it. If not, enter your email address (the one associated with the business listing). Follow the steps to create a new account.
Once signed up with your new account, follow these steps:
1) Click on the "Verify" button under "My Listings" in the left-hand column of the screen; then select "Add Verification"
2) Enter some information about your company including its name, address, and phone number. This info should match exactly what’s listed on Google Business. Then select “Verify My Location Now!”
If you’ve already set up your business on Google Business, you can sync the information there into Bing Places for Business. More on this subject later.
The Bing Places for Business service is a great way to get your business listed on Bing. It helps give you the best chance of being found by people searching in their local area. We hope you’ll take advantage of all the features and benefits available to verified businesses like yours!
